“Badshot Lea U14 Sharks win SPL League Title and do the Double”

Goldsworth Park Rangers U14 1 v 5 Badshot Lea U14 Sharks

In an epic last game of season to decide the league title Badshot Lea who were 2nd in the league played the league leaders Goldsworth Park Rangers with just a point separating the two teams. On a poor pitch it was going to be a very committed and closely fought match with both teams determined to win. However the extra quality of Badshot Lea in the final 1/3rd saw them take a 2-1 advantage at half-time with goals from Indra and Max.

The second half was end to end stuff but the Badshot Lea defence of Tim, Scott, Ells and Dan were very strong and restricted Goldsworth to few clear cut chances, the best of which brought a superb one handed diving save from Ed in goal as he turned the ball onto the post and out for a corner.

At the other end Badshot attacked at will and their persistence paid off with Max adding another 3 goals taking his personal tally to 52 for the season. Harry and Akash (who won Man of the Match) worked tirelessly in midfield.

As the final whistle went a long season had come to an end with the Sharks doing the double of League title and Plate winners.

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
