Halliford Boys 5
Badshot Lea Rays 1

Alfie West (1)

I was really pleased with the boys efforts today, the attitude was spot on and the scoreline was harsh in the extreme. In fact I would say that was the best match we have played this season as we kept our shape and passed the ball well. We also are beginning to learn when to play the ball to feet and when to lengthen the play with through balls for our forwards to run onto.
We were the better side in the first half and were very unfortunate to go in to the break 2-0 down. The first goal was against the run of play and the second came about after a foul on Robert that the ref didn't see. Then at the start of the second half he decided to award Halliford a penalty for handball against Charlie which for all the parents watching was ridiculous as the ball clearly struck him in the chest at great speed. The fact Charlie went down winded proved that it was a poor decision. At this point the lads could have folded and let their heads drop but this didn't happen as we worked even harder for each other and got our reward with a well taken goal from Alfie. Unfortunately we couldn't build on this as we tired against a side who had 3 subs against our bare 11 and we conceded two late goals.
There were some good individual performances today but special praise goes to Harley who defended and linked up play well, Angus who gave 100% despite feeling unwell and man of the match Alfie who ran his heart out today. Lets hope we can build on this next week at home to Teddington when I hope we will have subs available at last.
