A crisp spring afternoon saw the Typhoons travel the short distance to Farnham United. The match started promisingly when Sam Viggers played a high looping cross from the right wing into the Cougars penalty area. The ball bounced once fooling their keeper into a half hearted attempt to win the ball, instead the Badshot Lea Striker Oliver Phillips, jumped and headed the ball over the goalie and into the back of the net. With the Typhoons enjoying the majority of possesion it came as a shock when Farnham equalized off a poor ball clearance which dropped at the feet of their attacker. Unphazed, Harry Harding lobbed the Cougar keeper just after the restart to retake the lead. Further goals from Oliver P and Sam Viggers saw Badshot Lea go into the break with a 4-1 lead.
With a comfortable lead it was decided to allow the long serving Typhoons keeper Adam Morgan a chance to play outfield. The initial change in the team allowed Farnham to take hold of the game for a short time clawing back 2 goals to make it 4-3. The baggy boys soon regrouped and composed themselves and Adam Morgan now playing centre forward, continued to run at the opposition and was unlucky not to break their now solid ranks. Adam enjoying his new found position, eventually broke through and slotted the ball neatly into the Farnham goal. The pressure was eased and the team relaxed and returned to playing simple passing football. Adam was determined to go home with another goal and chased down a loose ball on the left handside of the Farnham area, shadowed by 2 defenders he released his shot just on the edge of the area and expertly placed it past the keeper to make it a 6-3 win.
Overall, an excellent team display by all members to project us to 5th in the table. Well done.
Man of the Match was deservedly won by Adam Morgan who just pipped Liam Jones to the award.
